TRAFOSEAL: Economical Aspects
The economic impact of sealing the transformer, is the savings created by the extension of operating life and deferred replacement of the transformer.
Old or aged transformers, can be sentenced to an early death, without this type of sealing, and a new transformer must be purchased earlier than necessary. The safety guidance of life-extension by the IEC norms is noted.
The minimum cost benefit of retarding ageing, is at least the value of the deferred interest on the replacement cost (capital), which would otherwise be required to refurbish or replace the old transformer.
